Croatia reports increases in tourist arrivals
A total of 12.27 million tourists stayed in commercial accommodation establishments in Croatia from January through November 2013, or 5% more than at the same time in 2012, and the number of bed/nights increased by 3.3% to 64.44 million, according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
In the first eleven months of 2013, foreign tourists generated 11 million arrivals and 59.45 million bed/nights, which were increases of 5.6% and 3.7% respectively in relation to the corresponding period of 2012. Domestic tourists accounted for nearly 5 million bed/nights, down about 2%, and their number increased by 1% to 1.41 million.
In November 2013, the number of tourists was up 7% year on year and they generated 9.5% more bed/nights than in November 2012. Nearly 209,000 tourists were vacationing in Croatia at the time, generating 508,000 bed/nights.
The most numerous among foreign tourists were Germans with 24.2% of all bed/nights. They were followed by Slovenians (10.3%), Austrians (8.7%), Czechs (7.6%), Italians (7.3%), and Poles (7%).
